What is Arthritis of the hand and wrist?
Arthritis is the progressive wearing down of cartilage between joints resulting in direct contact between the bones, producing pain and deformity. Common types of arthritis of the hand and wrist include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and arthritis of the base of the thumb.
