General anesthesia is administered by a physician anesthesiologist to maximize your safety and comfort during and after the procedure. The incision pattern that is used may vary, though there are generally two different techniques, including an inner thigh lift incision and an outer thigh lift incision.
Inner thigh lift incision: Involves incisions in the groin, extending down and wrapping around the back of the thigh.
Outer thigh lift incision: An incision is created extending from the groin around the hip and across the back.
Sutures will be used to close up incisions and support the new contours.

Following a thigh lift, patients may experience bruising and swelling, which will resolve with time. A compression garment may need to be worn to help reduce swelling and hold your new body contours in place. Sutures are often removed after the first week during a follow-up visit with your surgeon. Movement should be kept to a minimum for the first two weeks, and you should avoid stretching your thighs when sitting and bending. In most cases, incisions should be fully healed by the six-week mark, however, it can take up to six months for swelling to completely subside.
