The Procedure
Submental liposuction can be performed right at our state-of-the-art accredited surgical suite. Typically, local anesthesia is used for liposuction, but our team will help you select the right option for your comfort level and personalized treatment plan. Submental liposuction uses a tiny entry point placed under the chin. We perform it using the tumescent technique, which uses a specialized solution to control bleeding and minimize discomfort. Your plastic surgeon will insert a vacuum-powered surgical tool and gently break up the fat, suctioning it away. The biggest benefit of submental liposuction is that it allows your plastic surgeon to adjust your results to your natural facial aesthetic, contouring your new jawline as needed. Once completed, your treatment area will be dressed, and you can return home.
Submental Liposuction Recovery
Our team will give you detailed aftercare instructions for your procedure. You’ll need to wear a specialized compression garment as much as possible to help shape your results and prevent side effects. It’s normal to have some swelling, soreness, and bruising, but these side effects fade over the first week. Plan to give yourself one week away from work and social activities while you recover, ensuring you limit your activity level during this time.
