A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) uses a person’s own fat to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks. One of our board certified plastic surgeons will perform liposuction to remove fat from other areas of the body (hips, stomach, and thighs). They will then inject that fat into the backside. Additional liposuction can be done around the buttocks to improve the appearance of contour and lift.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in our fully accredited facility. General anesthesia is administered by a physician anesthesiologist to maximize your safety and comfort during and after the procedure.
What Can I Expect?
To avoid damaging the fat, we advise patients to avoid prolonged sitting for at least two weeks. When you do sit, you will have to use a pillow or cushion placed behind the legs to avoid pressure and raise the buttocks. You will also be encouraged to sleep face down or on your side.
You may have slight pain or discomfort which can be treated with medication prescribed by your doctor. Your surgeon usually will use drains to remove excess fluid and these may be in place for one to two weeks following surgery. More details on the procedure and how to help the recovery process will be given when you schedule your procedure.
