BioMedic MicroPeel®
Improving Skin Clarity
The BioMedic MicroPeel is an alphahydroxy (AHA) treatment which uses a unique, three-part system to remove a micro-thin top layer of skin.
Although Plastic Surgery Associates does not recommend the MicroPeel for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, the treatment can improve your skin’s clarity and tone.
What does the MicroPeel involve?
The first step exfoliates your skin, freeing it of dead cellular layers and lessening the appearance of fine lines and brown spots. In step two, a 15 to 30 percent alphahydroxy acid solution is applied to your face, freeing impacted debris from your pores. Finally, carbon dioxide is applied to your face. The coolness causes an immediate anti-inflammatory response: Pores look smaller, sun-damaged cells are cast off, and oil and blackheads are unblocked.
The entire procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and the change in your skin is visible immediately. It is safe enough that you can apply makeup right away. Monthly treatments are usually recommended, and use of the BioMedic Home Treatment Program of skin cleansers, conditioners, gels, creams and sunblocks can help maintain the effect.
BioMedical Micropeel Plus®
Reducing fine lines and blemishes
The BioMedic MicroPeel Plus is a betahydroxy (BHA) treatment used by Plastic Surgery Associates to reduce the appearance of fine lines, skin discolorations, acne scars and environmental damage.
The procedure renews your skin in two ways:
- It sloughs off dead cells.
- It stimulates the new, living cells to promote turnover and growth.
What does the MicroPeel Plus involve?
Your skin is cleaned to remove all cellular debris, then the MicroPeel Plus is applied. You may feel some slight stinging and burning about a minute later, which will increase as the MicroPeel Plus begins to stimulate renewal. The discomfort will reach a peak after two to three minutes, then quickly diminish. The mask is washed away after four to five minutes.
The process takes about 15 minutes and can be done in-office. Peeling becomes visible two to four days after treatment and lasts about three days.
Unlike most chemical peels, the MicroPeel Plus does not damage the quality of your skin cells, meaning you can have treatments every four to six weeks. Your first treatment will substantially transform your skin by softening fine lines and discolorations, fading dark spots and diminishing enlarged pores and acne scarring. With each additional treatment, you will notice incremental gains in the overall appearance of your skin.
