~Reshape your body
Liposuction is the most common procedure we perform at Plastic Surgery Associates. The reason is simple: we all have areas of our bodies we wish were slimmer, liposuction has an easy recovery and the results are excellent.
Liposuction sculpts the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. It is particularly suited to those areas that do not respond well to weight loss or exercise. Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body at the same time, and it can also be combined with other cosmetic procedures, such as a tummy tuck, for optimal results.
While liposuction has been performed for years, the past decade has seen many new advances in the procedure. Plastic Surgery Associates rely on many new techniques, such as ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), to provide more precise results and quicker recovery times. We are also the only physician practice in the region to offer this kind liposuction technology; the VASER Lipo System. This is the newest and the most versatile body contouring system on the market with scientifically proven effects of skin tightening. The VASER is a minimally invasive UAL body contouring technology that provides our surgeons a new level of versatility, they can perform a wide range of contouring on all areas of the body.
The procedure
Liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure in our fully accredited ambulatory surgery center. Liposuction is always performed using the tumescent technique, infusing the areas being treated with an anesthetic solution that allows for the painless and meticulous removal of fat with minimal bleeding. Small liposuction cannulas (hollow tubes) are placed through tiny, discrete incisions, through which the fat cells are removed and the regions are sculpted.
Recovery
Following the procedure, patients wear a compression garment day and night for two weeks, and at night for an additional two to four weeks. The garment may be removed for showers as needed. There may be bruising and swelling of the areas of liposuction, but this will resolve within weeks. Most people return to work in two to three days after surgery, resume light aerobic exercise in about a week, and begin more strenuous activity three weeks after liposuction. We can discuss more details on the procedure and how to help the recovery process at your cosmetic consultation.

Every body type has areas that are predisposed to fat storage and even with rigorous diet and exercise, those unwanted bulges often persist. Patented VASER®Technology can now offer a safe alternative for eliminating unwanted fat, revealing a smooth, new shape with fast recovery.
The next generation in body contouring, VASER® Lipo uses ultrasonic energy to selectively break apart fat deposits while preserving other important tissues. Whether you need help with a small problem area or a major transformation, VASER® Lipo allows your doctor to do his or her very best work.
VASER® Lipo, also known as LipoSelection, is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. VASER® Lipo uses state-of-the art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. What distinguishes the VASER® Lipo procedure is its ability to differentiate targeted fat from other important tissues - such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. Innovative VASER® technology breaks up fat while preserving these other important tissues to promote smooth results and rapid healing.
First, the area to be reshaped is filled with a special saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (to minimize blood loss and reduce bruising). Next, a small probe transmits sound energy (similar to that used for cataract removal of the eye) to break apart fatty tissue on contact while preserving other important tissue. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimize damage to surrounding tissues.
VASER® Lipo is for healthy patients who are frustrated by the resistance of certain body areas to diet and exercise and seek a fast, low-pain solution.
