Although Dr. Bengtson performs the full gamut of plastic surgery, his focus on breast procedures continues to evolve to include the most updated techniques and implants for breast augmentation, breast lifts, breast reductions, as well as liposuction, body contouring, and cosmetic surgery of the face.  Dr. Bengtson is also a leader in silicone breast silicone breast implant research.

Dr. Bengtson is board certified in plastic surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) specializing in cosmetic surgical procedures and is actually involved in teaching and presenting research regionally, nationally and internationally.

Through every stage of his practice, Dr. Bengtson has continued to learn and to share his knowledge. In 1993 he completed a fellowship in cancer and microvascular reconstruction at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Bengtson is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at Michigan State University, Past Associate Program Director of the Plastic Surgery Training Program in Grand Rapids, and Past Chief of Plastic Surgery at Spectrum Health, and remains very active in clinical research in the training and education of plastic surgeons.

He has received numerous honors and awards for his expertise in plastic surgery. Dr. Bengtson is also active in several medical missions and volunteers for organizations locally, nationally, and internationally including the Christian Medical Society and Project Albania.
